WHOIS and DNS checks

Domains & SSL

A domain's detail page runs live, on-demand lookups — a WHOIS query and a DNS/security audit — so you can check a domain's registration and mail/security posture without leaving JOATOS.

WHOIS

On the domain's WHOIS tab, select Run WHOIS. JOATOS queries the registry live and shows the returned fields (registrar and registry details). It runs only when you ask — there's no background polling.

DNS & security

On the DNS & Security tab, select Run checks (you can enter a DKIM selector first). JOATOS performs live lookups and summarises your posture:

  • A / AAAA — IPv4 and IPv6 records
  • MX — mail servers, with priority
  • SPF, DMARC, and (if you gave a selector) DKIM — email-authentication records
  • SSL/TLS — a peek at the certificate on port 443
  • All TXT records

A four-panel summary shows SPF, DMARC, SSL/TLS, and DKIM as Configured / Valid or Missing, so you can see gaps at a glance. Expand each section for the detail.

Notes & tips

  • These checks are live snapshots — run them again whenever you want current results.
  • The SPF / DMARC / DKIM summary is a quick email-security health check when you take over or audit a domain.
