Live status on diagrams
↩ Diagrams
Diagram nodes that represent real devices and servers reflect their live status, turning a topology or floor-plan diagram into a working status board.
Status colours
Device and server nodes are outlined by their current status:
- Green — online
- Red — offline
- Amber — maintenance
- Grey — unknown
Status refreshes automatically while you view a diagram, so an outage shows up on the canvas as it happens. For endpoint machines (laptops and desktops), status is worked out from the most recent agent check-in rather than a stale stored value.
View mode
Switch the editor to View mode (the toggle in the toolbar) for a clean, read-only board:
- Hover a node for a tooltip with its status, name, and type.
- Select a device or server node to jump straight to its detail page.
This makes a diagram a fast way to see and navigate your estate — spot the red node, click through, investigate.
Notes & tips
- Only device and server nodes carry live status — labels, images, and rack items are static.
- Keep a site's topology diagram populated (via Auto-populate) so it stays an accurate live view.
On a dashboard
You can pin a diagram to a Dashboard as a live widget — it keeps the same status colours and refresh, making a great always-on status board. See Pinning a diagram to a dashboard.
