Running and scheduling scans
Once you've configured a discovery source, it runs on a schedule — and you can run it on demand any time.
Scheduled scans
Each source runs automatically on its scan interval (from every 5 minutes up to every 24 hours, set on the source). This keeps your inventory current as devices come and go.
Running a scan now
On the Discovery page, each source has a Run scan (play) icon to trigger it immediately — handy after adding new equipment. Sources also have Edit and Delete controls, and a status dot showing whether they're enabled.
Pinging everything
The Ping All Devices button runs an immediate ICMP check across your monitored devices, refreshing their up/down status without a full rescan.
Watching progress
The Recent Scans section lists each run with a status badge — Pending, Running, Completed, or Failed — its start time, and a result summary such as "12 found, 3 new, 9 updated". Select a scan to open its detail and log.
Notes & tips
- A rescan updates existing devices rather than creating duplicates, so it's safe to run often.
- Scans run through the site's Site Collector — if a scan fails, check the collector is online and the credential is valid.
